"Capristrano of the North" is the name by which Pembroke has become known. Like the mission of San Juan in California, Pembroke is an important roost for migrating swallows. Thousands of swallows return perennially on their migration down the Ottawa River. The number of swallows is at its peak in early August and includes all 6 eastern Canadian species. |
